Yelverton Golf Club
Situation
Yelverton Golf Club lies just north of Plymouth off the A386 south of Yelverton itself. If you are heading north Golf Links Road is on your left. The clubhouse, car parks, first hole and practice fairways are here. The other seventeen holes are on the other side of the main A386 road.
The Course
A delightful moorland course, designed by Herbert Fowler, who used the old mine workings as natural hazards to challenge golfers of all standards. It has outstanding views across Dartmoor and over Cornwall and is a very natural course, with Dartmoor ponies and cattle sharing the fairways.
When the club was founded in 1904 there was a nine hole course to the west of the clubhouse. This was upgraded to eighteen holes in 1912. The current layout came into play between the wars.
Today's course retains fifteen of the original holes, with 16, 17 and 18 as more recent additions. The course has played host to many top competitions, including The Men’s Senior Amateur Championships in 2006
The ClubhouseAfter a tough round of golf there are few more welcoming sights than the clubhouse, where you can relax in comfort whilst enjoying a nice drink and a bite to eat. Be it just a coffee and a cake, or a couple of pints and an all day breakfast. The choice is yours!
Catering is open from 8.30am every day and the bar at 10:00am (both open at 8:00am at weekends). The bar is open all day and doesn't close until after the sun has gone down all year round (except Christmas Day).
